Elvis Presley Cake

We had some exciting events go on this past week at Heritage of Elmwood!

Throughout the week our residents focused on health and exercise with Fun and Fit activities. We practiced stretching, kicking and bouncing balls, and even got to break out our dance moves!

On Monday we had bible class, with the letter “B” as this week’s blessing letter.  This week we held Catholic mass with Father Prince. Thank you to Barb Cepek and Gerri Brunner for helping out with our church service and the rosary.

Residents worked their way through the kitchen on Wednesday by making some homemade Cherry Nut ice cream. It was delicious! The baking group also made yummy Elvis Presley cake.

Other fun activities throughout the week included a scenic drive around Spring Valley and playing shaker dice.  Our big winner at Shaker Dice was Jimmy Pierce and coming in second was Joan Binkowski. Congratulations to both winners!

Fun and Fit

This week we began our days with fun and fit!  Our activities included kick the ball, bean bag toss, ball dart, bounce the ball, and head to toe stretches.  Our residents were also active dancing and singing along to music provided by Two Frets Up.

Some of our other activities included a beautiful bus ride around Eau Galle and Plum City, sing along in the chapel, and creating flower pots in crafts.  Resident Council was held during the week to discuss the events that will take place in September.

Thank you to the alter and rosary ladies for helping with bingo, and furnishing the prizes for the winners.  We had a great week and we appreciate the residents, staff, and volunteers who help with these fun events!

Musical Guests

We had a fabulous week full of fun activities and yummy treats!  We had lots of music, dancing, and toe tapping with two special musical guests!  Jim Sexton and Two Frets Up visited us with their musical talents, and we had a sing along in the chapel.

Fun activities included manicures for the ladies, exercise group, and our baking group whipped up delicious caramel apple cheesecake!  We thank Barb Cepek for leading us in bible class, and also want to recognize the alter and rosary volunteers for helping with bingo and providing prizes to the bingo winners.

We enjoyed the beautiful weather, getting out for a bus ride around the Weston area.  Thank you to those who stopped in to visit our residents, they always enjoy visits from family and friends!

Carnival Festivities

This week was full of fun as we celebrated Carnival Week at the Heritage of Elmwood!  We began the festivities on Monday with a popcorn and pop party.  On Tuesday, the residents enjoyed photo booth day.  We munched on home-made ice cream, snow cones, and cotton candy on Wednesday and Thursday. The Carnival festivities concluded with drop buttons in the fish tank on Friday.

Residents were treated to take-out from Kerns Bar and Grill on Tuesday to accompany their afternoon bingo game.  Pastor Weaver presided over a Methodist service on Wednesday, and Father Prince held Catholic Mass on Friday.  Barb Cepek and Gerri Brunner were a great help with the Rosary and Mass.

We had a great celebration for five birthdays this month!  We all enjoyed entertainment by Rich Schroeder at the party, and wish a big “happy birthday!” to Carol Amdahl, Harold Kannel, Richard Schaffner, Grace Solum and Mary Jo Rathke.
