Heritage of Elmwood – Easter Preparations

We were delighted to have the second graders from Elmwood Elementary School come this week to read to residents! It’s always fun to see generations interacting. What a way to spend a Friday morning!

Some of our other highlights from the week included baking on Wednesday. We made the most delicious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and then enjoyed the cake at our monthly birthday party. The whole building smelled like cake! We also dyed Easter eggs this week and made an Easter bunny cake.

We celebrated our monthly birthday party with entertainment from Rich Schroeder. This month, we say happy birthday to Gerri Krueger, Lavonne Lehman and Orville (Bud) Dahling. Thank you to Bud Dahling, Barb and Lynn for the beautiful flowers they sent us for the birthday party. It made it special!

With this being Easter week, our faith services were extra special! Some residents even went out with family for Easter services and Easter dinner. For others, we had opportunities to observe Easter right here at Heritage.  Monday morning, Barb Cepek was here for Bible Class. We would like to thank Barb for volunteering her time!

Pastor Weaver was here for Methodist Church Service this week.  We would like to thank Robertta Holcomb for volunteering her time to come and play the organ for the service.

In our social and relaxing time, we watched some old-time movies on television in the lounge. We also love our bingo and games! We played a game of Shaker Dice and Orville Dahling was our top winner. Way to go Orville! The Alter and Rosary came for bingo, and we appreciated the prizes they furnished too!

Our week at Heritage included a sing-along in the chapel and we enjoyed some of our favorite familiar songs. There is nothing like music to bring out the smiles!
