Our mission at Heritage of Elmwood is to respond to the spiritual, physical, and social needs of people in order to enhance human dignity and growth by providing high-quality service.

Since 1973, Heritage of Elmwood has been caring for friends, neighbors, and families with high-quality services that respond to a wide variety of spiritual, physical and social needs. Whether you or your loved one needs rehabilitative care, long-term care, skilled nursing, or just an occasional helping hand, lean on someone you know. We invite you to give us a call to stop by for a tour. We look forward to meeting you and your family!

We provide skilled nursing care, long-term care and short-term rehabilitation for residents in Elmwood, Wisconsin, and the surrounding communities, including these areas and more: Spring Valley, Eau Galle, and Downsville, Wisconsin.

Heritage of Elmwood is a non-profit, municipally-owned skilled nursing community with a very active restorative nursing program that augments the work of licensed therapists. The Board of Directors for Heritage of Elmwood is appointed by the Village of Elmwood Board of Trustees. We are Medicare and Medicaid certified.

Red Cedar Clinic/Mayo Health System operates the physician clinic in the building. The advantage here is obvious; physician involvement in resident care is enhanced as is communication between nurses and physicians, and residents don’t have to drive anywhere to visit a physician. Regardless of the weather, the trip to see a physician is just a short, comfortable indoor trip down the hallway.

Therapeutic and rehabilitative services include:
• Physical therapy
• Speech therapy
• Occupational therapies
• IV and oxygen therapy
• Restorative care
• Tracheotomy care

• Excellent food and special diets supervised by a registered dietician
• A 10-passenger, two-wheelchair bus with an electric lift for activities
• Daily recreational activities
• Private rooms available
• Large outdoor gazebo
• E-mail and Internet access
• Beauty salon / Barber shop
• Wander security system

Ellen Thompson

Regional Lead Administrator & Administrator – Heritage of Elmwood

I am a Spring Valley, Wisconsin native. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a degree in health care administration. I have been working and volunteering in the long-term care industry since 2011 and have been familiar with senior care for my whole life.

I am passionate about advocating for our seniors, and ensuring they are provided with holistic care to meet all their needs: physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual.

I love small communities because of the emphasis on family, friends, and being there for one another. I have also I also enjoyed volunteering with Pierce County 4-H as an adult leader and have worked with youth in the area.

I am excited to serve the current and future residents of Heritage of Elmwood.
